Yoga Terms & Conditions - the Basics
Having said that, the terms and conditions (“T&C”) for yoga classes and retreats are essential to establish the legal relationship between the participants and the instructor. The T&C are meant to define the guidelines and boundaries governing the activities of the participants during the classes and retreats. It is important to tailor the T&C according to the specific nature of each class or retreat. For example, a yoga retreat may have different T&C compared to regular weekly classes. T&C provide the instructor the ability to protect themselves and the participants, but this may differ based on the location and nature of the classes or retreats, so make sure to receive legal advice if you are trying to protect yourself from legal exposure.
What to include in the Yoga T&C document
Generally speaking, yoga T&C often address these types of issues: the eligibility requirements for participants; the payment and cancellation policies; a disclaimer regarding the instructor's role and responsibilities; a reference to health and safety considerations; the participants' responsibilities during the classes or retreats; and much more.
